Behind the Scenes: My Book Enters the Editing Stage ✍️🐾
Hello Fleet & Fur friends,
I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news with you — my upcoming book on the history of dogs, their diets, and their role in human society has officially entered the editing stage.
This project has been a labor of love. Over the past months, I’ve been diving deep into archaeology, anthropology, nutrition science, and cultural history to create a comprehensive guide that tells the story of the dog in a way that’s both scholarly and deeply personal. From Ice Age wolves who first approached human campfires, to the pampered lapdogs of Renaissance nobles, to modern debates over pet nutrition — every chapter traces how our partnership with dogs has shaped history, culture, and even our own survival.
The manuscript is now fully drafted, and I’m working carefully through revisions. This means trimming repetition, polishing sections for flow, and expanding the parts that deserve more detail. Editing is one of the most important phases in writing — it’s where the narrative becomes sharper, the research is clarified, and the story of dogs truly comes alive.
I want to thank you for being part of this journey. Your encouragement has been a huge motivator, especially as the book grew into something much larger and more ambitious than I first imagined.
Stay tuned — over the coming weeks I’ll share more sneak peeks from the book, behind-the-scenes notes about my research process, and maybe even some deleted content that didn’t make it into the final draft but still has fascinating insights.
This book is for everyone who has ever loved a dog — whether as a hunting partner, a protector, a healer, or a family member. I can’t wait to bring it into your hands soon.
Thank you for walking alongside me. The editing pens are out, the chapters are in review, and the finish line is getting closer every day.
